Giving to St John’s
All of our ministry in West Byfleet is entirely dependent on giving by church members, other donations and any surplus from hiring our facilities. There’s no external funding or support!
Each month we pay our ‘Parish Share’ to the Diocese of Guildford, which supports the cost of our Priest-in-charge, together with a contribution to the overall costs of the Diocese, including training, housing, pensions, mission and parish support.
In addition, we pay the costs for the upkeep of St John’s and the Cornerstone Centre – maintenance, insurance, lighting, heating, etc; together with local salaries for our employed staff.
Although we try and make savings where possible, running such an operation involves significant costs – around £400 per day!
As members at St John’s, we are called to give regularly to support the church and our Christian mission – the bible makes this clear.
We are grateful to all who give regularly and generously – thank you!
However, we ask you to review your giving annually, and – if you are able – to consider increasing your support.
We also welcome one-off donations from parishioners or friends of St John’s who recognise how the church plays an important part in the life of West Byfleet, with activities that are visible to all, but also much that goes on quietly behind the scenes, supporting those who find themselves in difficulty but have no-one else locally to help them.
